Balsham Bowls Club

Founded in 1946, Blalsham Bowls Club started out in a field with 4 rinks. In 1950 a new 6 rink green was provided at the current location of the Meadow school. When the school needed to expand, the club lost the green and for four years, they shared facilities with Cambridge Coleridge (1970 -1973). In 1973 the new green was laid and the club moved to its current location.

Today, we are a mixed club competing in the Cambridge and District League and have two teams in the Steeple Bumpstead League. Our club has a kitchen for refreshments, ample seating both inside and outside and car parking facilities.

Over the years the club has won many trophies:

• Gilbert cup 1964,1987,1991 and 1996
• Champions of Champions Cup 1963, 1967 and 1982
• Secretary and Treasurers Cup. 1960, 1964, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971,1973, 1979, 1983, 1984, 1992.
• County League triples 69,71,72,73,74,75,76,86,87,88,89,90
• County League fours 98,2002
• Steeple Bumpstead League Division 3 winners 2014,2016 Runners up 2019

Arthur Spekman Pairs Final Day 3rd Aug 2024

The club will be hosting this year’s Arthur Spekmans Pairs Final day. We wish both teams good luck for the year ahead (lets see if the club can retain the trophy!).

Weymouth Bowls Tour 6-9th September 2024

The Bowls tour 6th -9th Sept 2024 at the Crown Hotel Weymouth. We will be playing Green Hill bowls Club on the seafront and also Portland Victoria Bowls Club – lets hope we have some good weather and enjoy the games.
